If so... What kind of shooting do you practice?

Here's one of my shooters.

The 1911 platform is about the only auto-loader that I'm interested in & that interest runs deep.

I tried the D/A auto-loaders for a short while, but never took to the dual action trigger reset. The S/A revolver in the pic is a semi-custom. It has had the equivalent of a "Blueprinting" performed. Barrel set back & a new 11 degree forcing cone cut. Had all the lawyer warnings removed from the barrel followed by a bead blast finish, etc. Plus it's chambered in one of my favorite old cartridges, the 45 Colt.

Shooting's a blast. I wish I got to the range more. Fortunately my occupation forces me to shoot occasionally. M-4 all day. I don't try to afford two hobbies though. Cars beat guns, so...

Indeed it does. Truly a grand old cartridge.

For many years I dismissed the old cartridge & the revolvers chambered in that round in favor of the 44 mag. After being injured in a traffic accident that left me somewhat recoil sensitive, I began to appreciate the 45 Colt. I can load it to nearly equal the 44 mag performance with much less recoil. I only wish I had learned to appreciate it earlier. In my youth I had turned my nose up at some good deals on handguns just because they were chambered in such an obsolete cartridge.  :-[
