hi, have 56 panel chevy.with trans am subframe,fitted for 454 & th 400.will the 500 cady fit? i,m looking to go fast from stop light 2 stop light.should i stay 454 ,i was reading about 500 ,some it will not make power i need.i can get 1970 500 for 400 .00 . want do need to do get power out of 500.

i dont know who told you it wont make power,   and a 70 block too.

580ft/lbs of torque at 2800rpm, it sure will get you off the line

also 400 horse at 4400 rpm,

and these days there is quiet a bit of performance parts for 500s. you can bore them, stroke them, MTS has cams, intakes, heads. there is pretty much everything out there, maybe not as much choice as you would for a 454, but 700 horse out of a 500 isn't that unheard or, or even that hard

not to mention the caddy will be about 100lbs lighter than your 454(please correct me if im wrong) but its around there

 Anyone can drop a 454 in Chevy truck, and they do it all the time ..Hoo HUMM.
Takes a real man to build and run a 500 Caddy, fit it into a Chevy truck and stand out in a crowd!! Put some excitment in your life...Cadillacs Rule!!

Not that common either. 550-600 is easy to do.
700 will take some work & money.

Then again, CPP just dynoed one at 800HP NA. There's a thread about it here somewhere.
Not cheap though, as that's with there new aluminum heads and other matching parts.

Then again, no 800HP NA engine is cheap.
