Hello first post here, I hope it helps someone. I researched and used a 7 5/8 posi from a 98 f body which works with you stock 7.5 housing and gears. This allows you to use stock replacement axles for a 8.5 g/n rear end. I picked up a set from moser but I am beyond the limits of the 7.5 ring gear so I upgraded to an 8.5 after last time of shearing the teeth from them.

Welcome,

iirc, all the GMs went to 28 spline around '88, and all of said carriers should work with 28 spline GN or other 28 spline axles from 7.5/8.5s. Iirc, there is a 28 spl S-10 axle that might work too [don't quote me, it may not be exact length]

Oops. Superior axle and gear list the "G" body axle as 28.5" long
GN 8.5" as well as the small rears.

2wd S-10 is 26.56"
4wd is 28.625"
[hack mode on - would probably work as long as drums didn't have a lip on inner edge]

Early chevyII 8.2" 10 bolt is also listed as 28.625"
