I just notched a little piece out of my stock hood then hit it with some black paint so it wouldn't rust.

Great! Pics are always good..  Custom fab parts from others cars done right are good for bonus cool factor points.   Cool   When I put my first one in my 88 Cutlass we put in an 8.5 from an 84 Ttype at the same time. After the break in oil was out and before the good tires when on we checked out the posi with some Cadillac torque.   Grin   Wish I had a video of those dry pavement donuts.

Thoughts: Some car people said Mustang owners whatever will look for an opportunity to knock you doing something different and you never get a second chance at a first impression.  Make it a good one when it comes to how it runs.  You can't not run it forever but test it & dial it in as best as you can before running somebody. (and maybe the help of some board members for tuneing)  Traction is going to be key.  Posi, lower control arms, etc are great but the first quickest easiest cheapest largest impact on traction aside from maybe having a drag radial or sneaky soft compound recap is an air bag in your passenger side rear coil. Pre load that suspension with somewhere between 8 & 15 psi posi or no posi and you will dramatically help your traction.

If you are overmatched you are overmatched but a close match is won or lost leaving the line. Stack the deck in your favor.
